I'M ACCEPTED!

So, today was a very interesting roller coaster. I will explain.

I woke up, tired and cold (I went to bed 5 mins before midnight) and skunk smell was very strong. Oh yeah, forgot to mention. A skunk died in front of our driveway, so everywhere outside our house smelled awful (and we could smell it inside if someone had the window open). Someone removed it later, but still, ew.

I went to work, which was not a good shift. It was non-stop busyness and chaos, and I swear, people brought dump trucks of books and DVDs, I was tired, cranky, and I really wanted to strangle patrons (don't worry, I didn't). Then, when work was over (it felt like forever), I realized my car smelt like skunk. Because the whole air was filled with the scent by my house when I walked out to my car, I didn't notice the smell going TO work, but after work I definitely smelt it on my poor car. I unrolled all the windows to see if that would help, and it kind of did; that's pretty bad, because it was in the 50's today. Well, at least the sun was out (it was rainy when I drove to work). So with all that lovely stuff, I wasn't sure how on earth my mood would change today. It changed.

Which brings me to the title of this post. When I got home, Mom said I had some good mail, which is always exciting, because I never get mail (except for bills or bank statements or advertisements; yuck). I got into my room and there were two pieces of mail: One from my church, and one from Taylor University. The Taylor envelope was huge, I flipped it over and it had all sorts of words that I couldn't really figure out at the time, but I thought they'd be related to "the Taylor tradition" and all that. On the envelope flap had one word, in small letters: Congratulations. I was excited once I realized the envelope was from Taylor, but by that time I got even more excited. I ripped open the envelope, took our the letter, and read the first lines:
"Dear Ashley:, Congratulations! It is my special privilege to announce that you have been accepted for admission to Taylor University for the 2010 fall term."

....

Have you realized it yet?

....

Has it sunk in yet?

....

I HAVE BEEN OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED INTO TAYLOR UNIVERSITY!!!

This is reeeeally exciting. I still need to wait until April (when all financial aid stuff comes in) before I make a final decision, but the fact that I got into my top school is very exciting! And I'm so excited about this that, as a result, my grammar is suffering! Why do I say this? Well, I am pretty sure that my Facebook status is grammatically incorrect and I had the hardest time spelling "university" when I sent a text to one of my close friends. Oh well. But I'm really happy that things turned out well so far!!!

Oh, and for those who may be wondering about the thing from my church, it was a reimbursement check (for Urbana), so basically, my Urbana cost is fully covered except for the housing (well, that and food and souvenirs, but those are typically separate from cost trips anyway). And also, my dad was nice enough to take my car to the car wash, so my car shouldn't be stinky anymore!

So yeah, today was bad, but it ended really great!

63 days till Urbana!

Ashley
