End of June 2009

Seriously, tomorrow's July? Not right. Anyway, CLC was okay. Found out I did terrible on my Biology exam, and fine on my lab quiz. Thankfully the professor offers extra credit. Afternoon was eh. Had good pesto pasta for lunch and Culver's for dinner. Work was hectic. Had all sorts of emotional crap.

All in all, not one of the best days. But hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

So, today work was so busy. But at least it went by fast. The afternoon I was lazy. At night I went with my friend Mariclare and her sister to see "Night of the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian". Overall, it was kind of good. Some parts were entertaining, other parts were stupid, but I think I liked it. I loved seeing the DC landmarks, though! Anyway, not looking forward to tomorrow. I hate Tuesdays.

Sunday, June 28, 2009

Man, I cannot believe that July is coming up. Anyway, church was really good. Worship was good, sermon was good, a missionary came in and gave an update on what was new with his ministry, that was good. Overall it was quite good. And I got to see a friend whom I had not seen in FOREVER (okay, 3 months, but it feels like forever!). So it was nice to chat in person. The young adult group was good too, though it was a smaller group than usual. Oh well. Still good. However, one part that was rough today was driving. While I still love my Civic (DUH!), the actual driving could have been a lot better. Then again, I HAVE been going on routes that I'm a little rusty with and felt like an obstacle course. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Hopefully I can gain confidence soon so I can drive to actual places by myself!

Anyway, summer's going by too fast.

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Seriously?! June is almost GONE?! What happened? Time is slipping so fast.... Anyway, I didn't drive anywhere today (how sad), but I'll drive to church tomorrow (though not by myself). Now I need to remember how wonderful my Civic is; because I didn't drive anywhere today, my major insecurities about driving are coming back. Although now I have the song "Voice of Truth" by Casting Crowns in my head-that's good, hopefully if I remember those lyrics, things will be great!

Anyway, to today. I actually slept in-yay! I watched "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom". It was good, though I think I like the first one better. I need to watch "The Last Crusade" tomorrow, because I need to return the videos to the library on Monday. Also, my uncle and grandmother on my mom's side came over, which was nice. I also realized something funny: My grandmother, uncle and myself all have Civics-and we're all lefties! Not sure if there's any significance there....

Not much else today. I was quite lazy. Except for the fact that I taught Mom how to upload photos on Facebook, that was interesting. I hope tomorrow will be fun.

Civic Happiness

So, I drove my car to work and back (Mom accompanied me, and probably will until I'm "comfortable" with driving). The verdict? I LOVE driving my car. I still don't love driving itself (and there were still parts that weren't great), but it definitely makes a difference having a smaller car. Hopefully I can drive somewhere fun tomorrow.

Oh, and work was fine today, had a dermatologist appointment, went to Barnes and Noble.

CAR!

All right, today started out weird, but ended great.

So, had Biology lecture, it was interesting, but I was SO TIRED, I kept zoning out and it was hard for me to pay attention.

Then I had lunch, a mini-nap (I guess) and mapped ideas for traveling.

Next I had dinner with a friend at Panera. It was very nice, if I do say so myself. : )

Finally, Mom and Dad took us to that dealership, where I test-drove the car (it felt nice) and long story short, we got it! So, I NOW HAVE A CAR!!! It's a 2002 Honda Civic and it's great! True, it's not perfect (almost 100k miles and several nicks and dents), but who cares? I HAVE A CAR!!! I'm happy.

Wednesday of High Hopes and Happiness

So, today in Biology we went to a recycling center. It was quite interesting. Had our lab quiz, wasn't too bad. The rest of the lab was interesting. Didn't do too much today.

However, 3 very exciting things happened. One, Dad looked over the car that I really liked yesterday, and while there were a few dents and minor issues, nothing major was wrong! We're probably going to test drive it tomorrow! Of course, things probably won't work out in the end, but for now, it's still pretty cool.

Two, my friend Sarah called me! She's a good friend of mine, but she's in Florida for most of the summer, so I have been missing her. Since I unfortunately had my phone off, her call went to voicemail, but I was still very happy to hear it.

Finally, the young adults pastor at VCB is trying to get a group together to GO TO URBANA 09!!! All right, people might wonder, what the heck is Urbana? It's a missions conference that happens every three years around the last week of December. For the majority of its duration, Urbana has been held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (hence, the name), but last time they held it in St. Louis, Missouri, and that's where this year it'll be (so will they change the name? Who knows). It's so hard to explain how awesome it looks, but I've been wanting to go on this conference for, like, a year and a half, but couldn't figure out how to get there and stuff. Well, now I have a way to go! God is so good! Anyway, that's it.

Well, tomorrow should be really good!

Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday

So, I can't type too much on here, I need to get up super-early tomorrow.

This morning, I had a Biology exam. It was tough, I don't think I did too well. We also had a sub, he was interesting. Then, me and Mom went car shopping. At the last place, we actually found one that I really liked and I think Dad might be checking it out sometime to make sure that there are no major problems. I'm trying very hard not to get my hopes high (this probably won't work out), but at least we found SOMETHING. Work was sooo busy and I kind of dragged. That's it.

Monday, Monday, Monday

So, today I worked. It was crazy busy, of course. Thankfully, the two books that I put on hold arrived! Yay! They're a couple of books about climbing, should be interesting. Didn't do too much, just attempted to study for my Biology exam tomorrow. I'm not feeling very prepared, but I often feel that way before a test, especially with the first one.... The first test is always the worst.

Anyway, better go to bed and rest.

Father's Day 2009

So, Happy Father's Day to any dads out there who might be reading this! Anyway, not much today. Went to Mom's church, went to the auto show (a.k.a. "Dad Fest") there, had pizza for lunch, some had lobster for dinner, overall, it was a chill day.

That's about it so far. This has been a boring week; I'm going to make sure this week is better!

Sat, June 20, 2009

I slept in today; hooray! Not much else this afternoon, browsed websites. I was so bored. Okay, I mostly looked at the website of this conference in St. Louis that looks really cool. Maybe... nah, I doubt it. But still, looks awesome.

Today most of us also served for a thing at my mom's church. It was cool. That was it.

Rain and Couch

So, today I went to work. It was fine. I got to see Mariclare just before. :) It was POURING rain, so crazy. In fact, last night we had a HUGE thunderstorm. Now normally I'm not bothered by those, but this storm kept me up for a bit.

Anyway, after work I got to see our new couch. Yep, after a long time we finally got a new couch! It's pretty nice, in my opinion.

And that's basically it. I'm so lazy....

Bio and Boredom

Last Biology class of the week. Watched a movie, fairly interesting. I was mostly bored today, and sad that I am off to a TERRIBLE start with my summer list. Well, I guess I won't be too bored tomorrow; I work tomorrow morning and I have a Biology exam on Tuesday. So I'll actually have to study (before, the homework load was very minimal). Oh well.

We'll see what happens this summer. I have a feeling that if I don't do something fast, it's going to be a very boring summer.

Environmental Biology Lab and Archaeology Movie

So, had my 8am Bio lab today. Grrr.... Though at least it was at the school, so it was easier. It was quite interesting, though I still will never make Biology my major....

Then the second part of the title comes in. I didn't really watch a movie about archaeology, per se, just a movie about THE most famous, heroic archaeologist ever. Yep, today I watched "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark". It was quite fun! Believe it or not, I have NEVER seen it before today. Can't wait to see the other two films! Love the score, too.

Anyway, for dinner some of us had Yogi's pizza. Then I schemed on ways to travel, moped a bit about things completely or slightly beyond my control and listened to music. I need to go to bed, I'm waking up REAL early tomorrow.

Oh, and June is going by too fast. Need to make another stab at that summer list.

Funky Moods

Yeah, today I was in a funky mood for complicated reasons. Didn't have a great day. Biology was okay. I hate this whole really-want-a-car-yet-hate-to-drive deal. I wish I had a different personality. Also, I discovered that I am a TERRIBLE workaholic.

Car Browsing

Today I worked from 8:45-1pm. It was VERY busy. But good. Didn't do much today. Dad and I went car browsing. Unfortunately, all the cars that I liked (Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Ford Focus) were out of my price range. : ( Well, MAYBE I could afford a Focus or Escort, but the Focuses I saw were a bit pricy. I'll most likely be getting a Saturn or something, hopefully there's an affordable place to buy one. Not sure when Dad and I are going to look again, I need to check the schedule.

Well, my Bio class is tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be fine.

Lazy Summer Sunday 09

So, church was really good today. I also got to see people I haven't seen in a while, which was nice. I didn't do much else, just chilled for the afternoon. I'm already sick of it. I'm starting with moving forward on my summer "bucket list", but we'll see how things go.

I want to go to England, Washington DC, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Ireland all at the exact same time.

Last Working Saturday for a While

I worked 9-5 today. It was sooo busy. But good news, the next Saturday I work won't be until July 18th! Yay! So I need to plan some things....

Anyway, not much today. I'm pretty tired. And I just got the travel bug again. I always have the desire to travel, but this time I REALLY want to get out of the country. Oh well....

Friday with Holocaust Movies

I worked today, 8:45-1. It was fine. I work tomorrow too. My next paycheck will be good, that's for sure....

Anyway, I finished ALL my biology homework for the week! Yay! I love only having one class. So the rest of the day I watched two films related to the Holocaust. One was "The Pianist" and the other was "Schindler's List". Both were excellent and amazing, though so sad and shocking, too.

Not much else today. I need to plan my summer today, otherwise I'll go back to that school-work-homework mode that I've been in for the entire school year. And that would not be good.

"Biochem" and Eyes

So, today was the lecture portion of my Environmental Biology class. Not quite as interesting as the lab was. The second half felt more like chemistry because we did an overview of matter and elements-hence, the title of this post. But, this is my last class session for the week! It's nice only having ONE class Tuesday through Thursday. Also, aside from answering some questions in the lab notebook and doing a little reading, I have NO homework! So I'm being productive, but I'm not so overwhelmed (sure, my brain was tired after 3 hours of lecture, but it didn't take long to recharge).

Also, this afternoon I had an eye doctor appointment to update my contact lenses prescription. For dinner we had Chinese. Didn't do much else.

Well, better get to bed, working 8:45am-1pm tomorrow.

Start of the Field Trips

So, I had my first Biology lab class. It was a Field trip... an hour or so away... and I had to be there at 8 am. So I wasn't looking forward to it, but was actually pretty fun, sure beat staying in a classroom. And still, no homework except answering the questions in the lab notebook, which shouldn't be too hard. I think I am possibly going to like this class.

Also, me and Dad looked at three dealerships in search for a car for me. It was a start. I liked the Ford Focus, Saturn Ion and older Saturn (I think SL1 is what we saw), and a few others. Of course, I loved the Honda Civic the best, but I gave up on that car long ago (I'd love it for a "second car", but it's too expensive for a first car). I'll just have to settle for cheap.

Start of Environmental Biology

So, today I started my Environmental Biology class for the summer. I have lecture on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-11:50am, and I have my first lab for that class tomorrow from 8am to 11:50am. Yes, it's early and long, but the class will be done by July 30th and I get the rest of the day afterwards to myself. : ) So far, I don't have much homework except reading. The lecture portion of the class should be okay. What is going to be more of a hassle is the lab part; there are several field trips in this class and the first one (tomorrow) is at Illinois Beach State Park which is NOT close to Boringsville. Ewwww. There are just all sorts of hassles that come with field trips. Right now, I don't care about my hatred of driving, I NEED A CAR!!! *sigh*

Well, today I must sound like I swallowed a Biology class textbook. Sort of. Hopefully after this week I can get a better idea of what my summer schedule will be. I do know this for sure, I need to review my "summer bucket list" that I made and get cracking on some of those things before it's too late.

Anyway, I better eat before I go to work tonight. That's why I'm posting this early-because I need to go to bed early. HOW early I go to bed, I have no idea, but I'm preparing, just in case.

Start of an Early Morning Summer

So, today I worked from 8:45am-1pm. It was fairly busy, but really not too bad. It'll be worse once the library closes on Sundays. Oddly enough, even though I'm NOT a morning person and hate getting up early, I like morning work shifts/classes better than afternoon/night ones. Probably because afterwards you have the whole day to yourself. Anyway, tomorrow I start my Environmental Biology class. It should be veeerrry interesting. Hopefully I can find time to hang out with friends between working and school.

What a Nice Day for a Picnic

So, I went to church today! YAY! It's been a month, so I was very happy to go. Afterwards, I went on a picnic with the young adults group, it was a lot of fun! Plus, the weather was actually really nice, I was happy.

Anyway, waking up early for work tomorrow. Why did I agree to this early morning summer schedule??? Okay, I know it'll be fine, just seems daunting right now.

100th Post

So, this is my 100th post on this blog! Yay! Okay, so it's nothing exciting, but I found it interesting.

Anyway, work was quite busy. My cough was bad but felt a little better. Didn't do too much; I can be such a lazy bum at times.

Panera Outing and Clothes

So, aside from this nasty cough, I'm doing MUCH better. I saw the oral surgeon today and everything was great! I have to avoid popcorn, nuts and rice for another week, but otherwise I'm completely back to normal! I was very happy to be able to chew like a normal person, because today I also got to meet a friend for dinner at Panera. It was GREAT to chat with her, I hadn't seen her in a long time. After dinner, me and my mom went clothes shopping at J. Jill, which wasn't too painful. I got some nice clothes, which was good. Still hate clothes shopping, though. Not much else today. I'm working 9-5 tomorrow, should be interesting.

Thursday, June 4

I still have a nasty cough, which isn't cool. But otherwise, I'm okay. Some of my emotional crap from yesterday has lessened a little, thank God. My grandmother (mom's side) came over for a little bit, that was nice. Didn't do much else, watched a few movies, tidied up my piles a little bit. I might be getting together with a friend tomorrow, but I haven't heard back yet. It's so frustrating to not be a spontaneous person sometimes. We'll see what happens with tomorrow.

Weds, June 3, 2009

I cleaned my room a little bit. It's not much, but at least a couple of my piles are somewhat smaller. I picked up my books from CLC, but I left my purse at the bookstore, so we had to go back later and get it. Guess I am scatterbrained. I ate pizza for the first time in a week. Complained some more about my driving woes. I wish my confidence would go up. I didn't have a great day.

My Health Is Gone Slightly "Up" in Improvement

Well, I'm not as miserable as I was yesterday, but I'm still feeling pretty lousy. Especially after work. Oh well. Today, we saw the movie "Up". It was so cute and sweet, I really liked it. What can I say, Pixar has done it yet again....

Oh, and in case you hadn't noticed, the only reason I phrased my title the way I did was because I wanted to use the word "Up" in the title.

Wait, It's June?! 2009 Cold Edition

So, I officially have a cold. As a result, I am miserable and can't breathe through my nose. Not fun at all. Very inconvenient.

Anyway, I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday, but my laptop had to be taken to the Apple store because the keyboard had a small crack in it. Thankfully, it's all fixed, but yesterday I had to use the family computer to check email, Facebook, etc. and couldn't remember my password for this blog.

But anyway, I did not do much today because I am feeling so crummy. Amazing how a silly little cold can knock me down so hard.

Also, how on earth can it be June already?! Where did May go? This year is going by too fast....
