I Always Seem to Be Tired

So, right now I am absolutely exhausted. There are a few reasons for this.

One, I worked today. 9 to 5. Since I'm always on my feet, I'm always tired after work. Today was especially busy. I have no idea why it was, but we could barely catch our breath the entire time! At least I got a workout in.... That is the main reason for my tiredness.

Second, I got to talk to a friend on the phone today!!! In case you're wondering how that contributes to my exhaustion, I always get tired after a phone conversation. Not sure why, maybe it's my introversion, maybe after the anticipation or something, I don't know. But it just happens. However, any tiredness that comes from phone conversations are a good, happy kind of tiredness. : )

Third, I did homework. As usual. I got some homework done, but there are a couple projects that I need to complete tomorrow.

And fourth, it is late. And I need to go to bed. So now the whole world knows what contributed to my tiredness today.

A very exhausted yet happy blogger,

Ashley

PS. I still want to travel. Out of the country.

It's Freezing....

Well, good old Illinois weather is back. Saw some snow flakes, which made me unhappy. It's 20 degrees now, which makes me VERY unhappy. Combine that, homework, and my perpetual desire to travel, today wasn't the greatest. At least Culver's for lunch was good, as was pizza for dinner. And, I did get have of my homework done today-yay! I'll have to complete the rest tomorrow-boo. : (

I am now going to bed early, because I work early tomorrow. I actually would be sleeping right now, but Obama kept me up (no, the president did not keep me up, I'm just working on a project that has to do with Obama that took longer than I thought. More details to come later).

Wishing that I was anywhere but here,

It's Raining!

It's raining today! Not snowing. I like rainy days, but right now I especially liked that it's not snowing. Snow is evil. In History we finished up with Greece; yay! I think we're going into Rome next. No classes on Fridays, so my weekend has begun. I don't have a ton of homework, but I will probably need to finish most (if not all) of it tomorrow.

I still have a desire to travel, especially to Europe. I researched flights and stuff, determined that they were all out of my price range, and wondered why on earth it's so difficult to get from Bulgaria to Greece.

Well, that's all for now. Not looking forward to tomorrow and all that lovely homework....

Estoy muy cansada y ocupada

For non-Spanish speakers, my status says "I am tired and busy". Pretty much describes me well these days. Speech was cancelled today. Lit and Spanish were good, but draining, as usual. Not much else to report.

Yes, this post is short, but I want to be consistent with this blog. Just like some chapters or sections of a book are more exciting than other chapters/sections, the same goes for blog posts: Some are interesting, some a little less so.

Oh, yeah: I WANT TO TRAVEL!!! I am so sick of Boringsville. I want to try to travel out of the country somehow....

Plato as Represented By Stick Figures

Today was History, where we talked a little about Greek philosophy, which included Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" (okay, so technically I think it's actually Plato recording Socrates... but whatever). One of the students said it would be easier to explain his thoughts on it by drawing on the blackboard... so the teacher told him to go ahead... and that's what he did. Then later the teacher did the same thing; it was quite entertaining. So that explains the title of this post.

Work was steady, which is nice (these days it seems that everyday that I work it's shockingly busy). I got to eat some panczki (or however it's spelled) for Fat Tuesday. And there was free food at school for Mardi Gras. : )

That's all for today; this whole blogging thing is really fun!

Oscar Aftermath and School

So, Oscars were pretty good, I was very pleased that Heath Ledger, Kate Winslet and WALL-E won. : ) I was also happy that Slumdog Millionaire won best picture, though I guess that means I now need to see it.

Anyway, not much today, just American Lit, Speech and Spanish. I'm now six weeks into the semester; only 10 more weeks (not counting finals week) to go....

Late Night Post

So, I've got a long day tomorrow, and I have what feels like a ton of homework (though I keep trying to tell myself that I really have only one assignment that NEEDS to be done tomorrow, but whatever). Um... Today I watched Harvey, that was fun. We got a lot of snow, snow is evil; it needs to die. I'm ready for spring! Not much else. Well, I better do what I can with this assignment on "Death of a Salesman" then go to bed.

This is Ashley from the Boringsville Bat Cave in the dark of night signing off.

Academy Award Predictions!

All right, since the Oscars are in two days, I thought I would do the whole "Who will win, who should win" thing, just for fun. Mainly for the major categories (including animated film!), but I'll also do score and song, cause I like those categories. Keep in mind, the ONLY films I saw in 2008 were Prince Caspian, WALL-E, The Dark Knight and Twilight, so a lot of my picks are biased....

Okay, so for best director, people are saying Danny Boyle will win for "Slumdog Millionaire", and I actually hope he will win. I've never seen this movie, but I'd like to.

Best actor: Mickey Rourke will win for "The Wrestler" and as for who I want to win....I think I'll root for Frank Langella (he's nominated for "Frost/Nixon"). I know he's a bit of a long shot, but I like him (he plays Bob Alexander in Dave, in case you were interested), plus I tend to like historical dramas....

Best Actress: I think Meryl Streep will win for "Doubt", I think Kate Winslet should win for "The Reader". I like Kate Winslet, she's long overdue for an Oscar win, end of story.

Best Supporting Actor: People say Heath Ledger will win for " The Dark Knight", I think Heath should win. Enough said.

Best Supporting Actress: I have no freaking clue. Um... Either Penélope Cruz for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona"  or Taraji P. Henson for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" will win and... who I think should win? Um... I'll go with Amy Adams or Viola Davis, both in "Doubt". I like Amy Adams (yes, I'm making a lot of my decisions based on that!) and I heard Viola Davis was good. But I won't cry or anything if they don't win.

Best Animated Film: WALL-E is predicted as a shoo-in, and all I can say is it BETTER win! I think if by a huge upset it doesn't win, I may cry. Yes, very mature, I know. ; )

Best Original Score: "Slumdog Millionaire" won the Golden Globe for this category and will probably win the Oscar. However, judging by the snippets on iTunes, I will probably root for... "Defiance". It has some great string action going on. But I also liked the scores for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "WALL-E", too.

Best Original Song: I'm thinking "Jai Ho" from Slumdog Millionaire will win and.... I kind of think it should.

Best Picture (they also save this for last): Unless "Milk" can pull an upset, "Slumdog Millionaire" will win, and that's the one I'll be rooting for. : )

Well, that was long. I hope you enjoyed this and I can't wait to see the Oscars!

First Post!

Hey! So, this is my very first post on my very first blog. I really don't know what I'm going to say or when I'm going to update it. I guess the title says it all. : ) Hopefully I'll have fun with this! And hopefully someone will enjoy it....

That's all for now. Now, back to the battle of homework....
